Upholding the Integrity of Golf

I am acutely aware that the jungle drums have been beating after some recent events, so I thought I’d quickly clarify the position of the Committee, the Match Committee and the expectations of players within this great Club.
Golf is a game built on integrity, where players are expected to self-regulate and uphold the rules without the need for constant oversight. This tradition of honesty is what sets the sport apart — players call penalties on themselves, even when no one else is watching.
Fairness to all competitors is fundamental. Cheating, in any form, not only violates the rules but disrespects fellow players and the spirit of the game itself. That’s why, when a member is found to have acted dishonestly, the consequences must be clear and firm.
Expulsion, while regrettable, is sometimes necessary to preserve the credibility of competition and the values that make golf a true test of character. Integrity isn’t optional in this game — it’s everything.
