New By-Laws, Code of Conduct and Dress Code Approved

Published on 26th September 2017 in Uncategorized

I am pleased to announce that the Committee have approved a revised set of By-laws, Code of Conduct and Dress Code, all of which can now be found under ‘Resources ‘ on our website. These come into effect from 30 September 2017.

I urge you to read these in full (they are not too long).

The Main Changes:

The Code of conduct has been extensively reworked, based on research of other clubs and with reference to Golf Victoria.

The Dress Code remains substantially the same, except that Cargo pants cannot be worn. (I fought hard to keep them, for us ‘fashion-forward’ dudes, but lost on this point!)

The functions of the Match Committee and the function of hearing any disciplinary issues have been separated.

The Match Committee are responsible for the planning and running of our competitions and the finalizing of competition results. Any protest or any breach of the Rules of Golf likely to affect the results of a competition, must be reported to the Match Committee immediately after the completion of your round.

The body appointed to hear disciplinary issues is the Disciplinary Sub-committee This is not a permanent body, but will be appointed by the Committee for each hearing and will include both committee members and non-committee members. The aim is to make hearings as transparent and democratic as possible. Members will be asked to indicate their willingness to sit on a Disciplinary Sub-committee, on the membership renewal form.

Any breaches of code(s) or complaints must be put in writing (email is fine), addressed to the Secretary.

Finally, I’d like to thank the working group –  Ken Crompton, John Fletcher, Stuart Thompson and John Ward who worked with me to draw up the drafts. Your long hours and quality input are much appreciated.
