Gentle reminder

Good morning fellow ‘Bats,

Pace of play

As we move into various eveents and different forms of match play, and also experience some warmer February weather, it is timely to recognise that as a club we have made huge improvements to our rounds of golf – and now the average round is well under 4 1/4 hours – well done!

Having said that, match play does require an ‘order of play’ (furthest away always plays first) as opposed to ‘ready golf’. However this does not excuse slow play – it is not Ryder Cup and we are not all Brian Harman. Please, cut down the waggles and multiple practice swings (we only have so many good shots a round – so don’t waste them) and the 360 degree green reading consulations and keep it moving along.

You must get to your ball promptly and be ready to play when it is your turn. Keep up with the group in front, and if they get away from you – which can happen if they agree to halve a hole – make genuine efforts to catch up. Players who are unnecessarily tardy or out of position may be asked to pick up their ball and walk/concede the hole.

Course care:

We have various events showcasing our magnificent course in February: Senior pennant, VGA pennant, the Ray White Pro-AM, TKC Charity day and a few others.

To help care for the course, improving playability for us, as well as ting the course in its best condition, please take an extra 30 seconds and fill divots in the fairways and repair any pitch marks on the green. (If pitch marks are addressed promptly, they repair within a day – if left a day to dry out, they can take weeks!)

There are some short / sharp working bees coming up to prepare the course for the Feruary events so keep an eye out for expressions of interest.

The working bees are planned for

13th, 20th, 25th and 27th February.

Thank you again for you continued efforts,

regards,

Stuart Thompson

President YGC
