Grand Final Par 3 Event

What a great day. Perfect weather, light winds, good company, challenging holes and pins – who ever said par 3s were easy!
Over 250 players turned out across the morning and afternoon sessions, with only a few of the the usual technical gremlins popping up. A lot was learned about the day, and next year will be even bigger and smoother! A slightly earlier tee time, clearer instructions for newbies – better directions for groups so no one gets lost – and an earlier start to the BBQ and beverage cart!
The Belgravia staff worked tirelessly across the day, and Wally (with some help from YGC Skipper John. O. Ward) was a trojan on the BBQ (even in the darkness! *Note: A couple of feature spotlights to light up that gum tree will be a magnificent feature Matt!) Gary Eastwood wowed the crowd, the mini-golf was packed with kids and families – that is what Yarrambat is all about!
A number of YGC members were winners on the day, and there were some great shots, as well as tales of what could have been. Ronnie Dingle almost aced the 16th, spinning his ball back over the hole, only to spin back just a bit too far to also miss the NTP by less than 10cm! Russell Laws played a beautiful (lefty) baby draw over the tree on 9 to set up a kick in birdie. Stephen Smith dropped one right next to the pin on 2, but also got pipped, while Sammy Saykan (fresh from his extended Turkish sabbatical put one to 1.5m on the tricky 18th – and then 3 putted! And then the Prez lit up the 18th hole shootout before a crowd of thousands dropping a super smooth 3/4 wedge to 2 feet – and knocking off (a *petulant/shattered) Glen Brown at the death!
A huge success and hopefully this will become a regular feature on the YGC / Belgravia Calendar.
