Warning-Frustrated rant ahead!

Published on 26th July 2023 in Uncategorized

Dear members,

I must say that it staggers me to see the blatant disregard for the course that some of our members have  demonstrated lately.

Despite repeated imploring members to care for the course, there are those – and there are clearly a few and some probably know who they are – who could not give a stuff and will do whatever they want.

Your Committee work hard to build relationships with the ground staff and course management, to ensure that the course is preserved in it’s best playing condition where possible, particularly during the winter months – often to the detriment of some of our less mobile membership who rely on carts or ride-ons.

So when I see that some of our members do not give a stuff about the efforts being made, it gives me pause to wonder why they could be so bloody-mindedly selfish. We have worked hard with ground staff to rope off areas that are clearly water affected or where the ground is soft – to reduce foot, buggy & cart traffic to prevent the course becoming an unplayable bog.

But yet again today, and for about the 4th round running – some of our members seem to think the ropes aren’t even there??

Instead of leading by example, and going around or standing up a sagging rope – they choose to push their buggies straight over the ropes and across the boggy ground – clearly not giving a stuff about the course or the members groups that will follow.

This complete disregard for anyone but themselves must stop – and I expect the playing partners in those groups to stand up and say something. The photos of the second hole below are indicative of the selfish disregard our members showed to anyone else today (and it was also evident on the 15th, 17th & 18th).

I will ask politely, and for the last time, for those members to please – lift your game!

Keep your buggies out of the roped off areas.

If you really enjoy playing in a mud swamp – feel free to go play at ”the Frog” – but leave this next level selfish disregard at home the next time you choose to play at Yarrambat.

End of rant.
