On a coolish, breezy day the team headed out to Sunbury to take on ladder leaders and flag favorites, Box Hill.

We started on the 10th hole (a tricky 150m par 3 water carry that is well guarded by bunkers!)

Darren Kershaw lead us of and was caught in a genuine battle, with players swapping holes and the lead swinging back and forth. Darren lead 1 up heading to his 17th but caught the front trap on the long par 5 and could not get up and down to square the hole, then missed a putt on 18 to lose 1 down.

Jas struggled with his game all day, but fought all the way going down to a solid player who never let him in.

Daniel go on top early and never relinquished the lead, taking out a slid 2 &1 but never looked troubled.

Alex have a real battle, with the lead never getting beyond 1 before they finished the 18 holes square. An altercation with the Box hill team manager who overstepped his role threatened to derail a great match, but credit to Box Hill player Brad for showing real  sportsmanship to continue the match. Alex regrouped magnificently and took it to the 20th hole, narrowly missing a putt to keep the match going.

Matty had a chance to win on the 18th, lipping pout form 25′ before losing on the 19th hole, both players were well under the card on the day and it was an exhibition of great quality.

Imran was in control of his match all day and closed it out 2 & 1 on the 17th, while Aaron, playing at 1, took his opponent to the 18th hole and closed out a clutch victory 1 up.

While the end result feel 4&3 to Box Hill, we have shown ourselves that we were able to take it to the favorites, and if 2 putts that hit the hole, had dropped, it would have been a 5&2 win the the Bat.

Solid results in the next two rounds will keep us in with a chance, and both teams ahead of us have shown themselves to be beatable.

After Easter the next round is at Berwick-Montuna – so let’s see a few more supporters out to cheer our team on.
