Member Booking Protocols

Published on 18th July 2020 in Uncategorized
Dear Members,

There seems to be a little confusion around the current golfing circumstances and how you can access the course.

I shall attempt to simplify it;

Members can only book for 9 holes (either for themselves or their mates) – (there we go. That was easy. 😉)

Whether it is booked through the YGC website, Quick18, by carrier pigeon or by telephone; either in a competition booking time or for a social round – members can only book 9 holes.

But I want to play more! 😞

If a member wants to play a second 9 holes, this can ONLY be done in person and only at the pro shop – (not by phone, not by 3rd party) and only at the time you check in for your round. (and please do not expect that a second 9 will be possible – they are like unicorns!)

If you ask the pro shop staff when you check in they will inform you if a ‘turn around 9’ is possible.

If there is an opening, the pro shop staff (in person) will confirm the second 9 tee time at the time of check in (in person – see the theme here….)and at their sole discretion.

There is to be no loitering in between rounds (and if it cannot be booked in short turn around time, you will need to leave course precincts)

No member is to try to book a second 9 holes, either on YGC site, thru Quick18, by phone, or by getting someone else to ask when they check in. You must enquire (politely 🙂), in person, at the course, in the pro shop, if there is an opening.

Members of the public are not given this opportunity – only Belgravia and Club members have the chance to play 18 holes.

During these challenging times, we understand that people need to get out, to exercise, to leave the confines of the home for even a few short hours; but these are very trying times for everyone – and no-one needs to be given any grief just because only 9 holes of golf is available.

We also need to appreciate that our hosts, Belgravia, are a business, and they have lost a large part of their income generation (cafe, range, mini golf, bar, catering, etc) and it costs money to keep the course open and maintained for us to play. We are all making sacrifices during this extraordinary period, and we, as compassionate human beings, need to ensure that everyone has access to the course.

We ask that everyone think of others before themselves, and show both patience, tolerance and respect to each other.

It is also expected that any person attending the course to play golf will have read, and agreed to abide by the YPGC COVID-19 Safety Plan, and the Victorian Government Fair Play Code and the YGC Code of Conduct.
So please ensure that you take the time to read these documents.

If you have any questions, please direct enquires to the YGC Secretary email, or contact Mitch or Michael.

Thank you for your understanding,

Stuart Thompson
President YGC
