Booking update – a second 9?

Published on 12th July 2020 in Uncategorized

Members,

In this fluid and dynamic environmentss and after negotiations with Michael and his team, a compromise has been achieved in an attempt to maximise both the number of people who can access the course, as well as the number of holes members can play. This is a great gesture from Michael, Mitch and the team.

BOOKING: On Mondays, Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays members can book in the YGC slots for 9 holes only. (Each 9, Front and Back, will be a completely separate competition, registered and scored separately on the App.)

On arrival at the course, no more than 10 minutes before their tee time, members can check with the Pro Shop staff to see if a vacancy exists for a second 9 holes, at an appropriate time to ensure no lingering between 9’s. So if you think you might like to play 18, make sure your first 9 is booked earlier.

This, second 9 booking, will be managed only on the morning of play, and only by the Pro Shop staff. Members are not to book into both 9s themselves. Any Member found to have double booked will have one 9 deleted.

Only YGC and YPLGC members will be afforded the privilege of playing 18 holes (i.e. no public play 18 hole access) and it is hoped to have 18 hole days for the Medal Rounds – at great cost to the Course.

To enable this to occur, no member will be permitted to book 2 separate tee times in the block booking on the same day.
e.g. Next Wednesday, a member cannot book in 9am and also 11am (planning their own turnaround)

Rationale: Other YGC members, Course members, as well as the public, will have priority to that second tee time, right up until the member checks in that morning. If the turnaround time is still available at the time of check-in, then a Belgravia team member will reserve the time and allow the turnaround for 18 holes.

This is the fairest way to allow as much access as possible for everyone. If someone wakes up on that morning and wants to book they should have access to at least 9 holes, before others play more holes.

The YPGC COVID-19 Safety Plan will be updated to reflect this change.

Please bear in mind that the past week has been very stressful for Belgravia, as they have contacted hundreds of golfers, booked 2 weeks ahead, to cancel their bookings, to allow us the two tee start, and once again many of their facilities have been closed and business curtailed.

We are working together, in trying and fluid circumstances, to try to meet everyone’s expectations, without jeopardising the community or individual health, or the business operating model.

Your patience and understanding through this period is essential to everyone’s continued happiness.

All the CHO directives continue to apply;

  • 2-Ball only
  • Maintain 1.5m social distance between players
  • Maintain 100m between groups
  • Shared practice facities closed
  • There are 4 reasons to be out (and hanging round for a coffee after the round isn’t one of them.)

Regards,
