John Melouney

Members,

Many have wondered lately what has become of John Melouney, Yarrambat’s resident Santa, our own Birdman of Alcatraz? He hasn’t been seen on the course for a while and some have asked if he is ok.

The answer to these questions is that John has reached a point in life where he appreciates it is too difficult to get around the course, his swing has deserted him and his prime golfing days are past – after all ‘a man’s gots to know his limitations’.

I am told that John is in both good health and spirits, and is a very private person off the course.

I would like to take this time to thank John for his years of service to the Club as a player, a member, a club representative, our handicapper, charity stalwart, and to many, a mate.

John was awarded Life Membership to the Yarrambat Golf Club, as the result of his years of selfless service for the betterment of the game. He always played it fair, and always put others before himself.

Thank you John, your presence will be missed.

Stuart Thompson
President YGC
