Getting ready for a return possible to golf …..

Published on 7th May 2020 in Uncategorized

All,

If, and it’s a big if, there is any announcement made by the Premier on Monday 11 May regarding easing of restrictions, or expanding permitted activity, it is anticipated it will not be made til mid morning. Staff will use that first day to ready the Pro Shop and the Course, and most likely the Golf Course will not open until Tuesday lunchtime (after the ladies booking time.)

It may be that the Driving Range and practice putting green will open first – with very restricted capacity.

So please do not just turn up to the Course en masse looking to break down the gates – it is anticipated that only booked players will be permitted to play – no walk-ups!

To prepare for a future return to golf:

  1. Download the MiScore App fro the App Store or Google Play
  2. Manual YPGC (Course not Club cards) scorecards should only be used as a very last resort used.
  3. Download the CoronaSafe App – if you do not have the App downloaded, then play within the YGC field may not be permitted
  4. No cash will be accepted for competition fees – we are examining a new process of ‘billing’ (and most likely not accepted in the shop either)
  5. Players will be automatically registered in any Competition once the Competition opens for play on the day
  6. Please don’t go near the Computer to register – if you have a MiScore App issue, please photograph your signed card and email it to the YGC Secretary and we will sort it before the close of the Competition

We must remain vigilant to our social distancing, particularly on arrival at the course and while waiting to tee off. To assist this, tee times have been changed and spaced further apart so please check your tee times! (And please don’t arrive too early!)

All players will be pre-registered for the competition, and if you don’t have the App please use a Course scorecard so you don’t need to go near the Computer.

Week 1 will be 9 hole bookings for social play only to allow everyone a chance to get out there – no competition fees or prizes

To prevent unnecessary gathering, it has been suggested that we have virtual waiting zones.

  • One group on the first tee
  • One group on the putting green (you have 10 minutes to practice)
  • One group near the fountain
  • One group at the end of the path near the shed.

and everyone maintaining at least two clubs lengths separation at all times. Anyone repeatedly breaking social distancing rules, and jeopardising things for everyone else may be excluded from the course

Thank you for taking personal responsibility for your own safety, as well as your partners, and maintaining your personal space. (Also, if someone suggests you may be too close to a player, thank them for caring about you, and take one step back.)

Stay apart and stay safe.
