In response to high demand for limited bookings during the COVID-19 period, a new ‘Lottery’ feature for the bookings has been implemented nationwide by MiClub from April 2020.  It applies to all time sheets but is specifically designed for very popular time sheets, such as our Monday.

The ‘Lottery’ feature randomises the entry process for members so each entrant has an equally lucky (or unlucky) chance to obtain a tee time on busy time sheets or for prized tee times.  

A member accesses the fixture list up to 10 minutes prior to the scheduled opening of a time sheet, selects ‘Join Draw’ to get a ticket in the Lottery and waits for the clock to cyountdown. The draw closes 5 seconds before the time sheet opens and entrants are randomised like a lottery.  

The first 5 members in the ‘Lottery’ have immediate access to the time sheet to find a tee time.  The remainder of entrants are ordered by their allocated random ticket number to enter the time sheet when those ahead have completed their booking.  This may add an extra 15 to 20 seconds to the booking experience for those not in the first 5.

The benefits of the ‘Lottery’ are

• No more ‘fastest click’ wins
• Your device or internet speed will not affect your entry in the draw
• Random draw for all
• Fairer for all as resembles a traditional members draw that was once done at the club
• There’s less chance you will be rejected with ‘Row Taken’

This new system will be assessed over the next few months to see if it works for us, and (respectful) member feedback is welcome.

The ’30 minute’ queue has been reduced to 10 minutes so members don’t need to hover over a keypad for 1/2 an hour.
