YPGC Course Update

A Message from the YPGC Manager

Dear member,

They say that at the end of every rainbow there’s a pot of gold. In Andrew’s case, it’s a pot of herbicide! Our Superintendent has been busy on course this month, taking the opportunity to get some works completed:

  • Greens and tees have all been aerated and fertilised;
  • The 14th and 18th greens have been renovated and bent over sown;
  • Bunkers have been closely monitored during downpours with a view to improving drainage and repositioning the valve boxes where possible;
  • Tees and clubhouse areas have been sprayed for broad leaf weeds; and
  • All 18 fairways (with an area size of 12 hectares) have been sprayed for onion grass.

Our number one priority right now is to have the course ready for members to play as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

Whilst it has been a challenging month for the VIC golf family under harsher restrictions than other states, we should be proud that we have not exposed our players to any unnecessary risk whatsoever.

Golf as we know it will be back eventually, and our course will be ready to welcome you back with open fairways. But perhaps a little tighter than what you are used to seeing, so be sure to leave your hooks and slices at home.

If you haven’t heard, we’re throwing up a local challenge to help you pass the time. So, if you’re sick of cleaning the grooves of your clubs, then maybe it’s time to set up your trick shot. See the competition details below for more info on #ShareYourShots, plus an introductory trick shot from yours truly..

⛳

On behalf of our team, we can’t wait to #SeeyaAtTheBat again soon. (and no, we are not in liquidation Cris! 😉😋)

Stay safe,

Michael McKay
