New Competition Playing / Arrival Conditions (& cash no longer accepted at the Course)

Published on 25th March 2020 in Uncategorized

Members,

In these challenging times we all must do everything that we can to comply with the requirements laid down by the Federal and State Government health advisory boards if golf is to remain available to us.

As of 3pm on March 25, Golf Australia’s advice from the office of the Federal Sports Minister was golf could continue to be played while adhering to “strict social distancing measures as announced by the Federal Government, and in conjunction with state/territory licensing laws.”

To this end, the way we play golf, at least for the foreseeable future, simply must change.

Starting this Saturday 28 March 2020 and until further notice and on the advice of Golf Australia Club Golf will change.

  • There will be NO $5 ENTRY FEE and NO DAILY COMPETITION PRIZES starting this Saturday
  •
  • ALL Competition scores will still be handicapped and the Rules of Golf will still apply (we have not reverted to social golf)
  •
  • Please download the MiScore App ASAP to reduce the need for scorecard handling
    • (The MiScore App allows you to mark & submit another player’s score directly to the Club computer – if the player you are marking is not using also the App, then your card needs to be submitted the old fashioned way – so ideally both player & marker use the App)
  •
  • Tee times will be spaced further apart (between 11 – 15 minutes) Check your tee time – it may have changed
  •
  • The Driving Range will remain open (at this stage) – but please do not arrive hours before your tee time
  •
  • No more than 4 people on the putting green at any one time (if instruction this is not followed it will be closed)
  •
  • Maintain your ‘social distance’ – at least a driver held at fully extended arm’s length at all times – inside and on course
  •
  • DO NOT stand next to each other, either on the tee, green or fairway – and call out you partners if they get too close – this is not optional!
  •
  • Do not congregate in the Pro Shop – get in, scan your card or register and get out.
  •
  • Do not mingle near the first tee or fountain either (YPGC recommend arriving no more than 15 -20 minutes before your tee time)
  •
  • Order your coffee or toasties by phone 9436 2201 & press 2.

At this time the April Medal rounds will be played as scheduled, and the syllabus will remain unchanged. The April Medal and 4BBBB Anzac Day event will be reviewed and a decision will be made by the YGC Committee, based on the best advice from GA and the various Federal, State and Local Governments.

We all want to be able to come to the course to play, exercise, and to de-stress (as best you can if you’re not having the yips) – but at this time we cannot socialise – not before or after or even during the round – speak louder and stay apart.

If we cannot abide by these guidelines – which will simply be the way of life for the next few months – then the Course will be closed, and the option taken out of our control.

So please, take responsibility for your own behaviour, and (gently) call out others that are putting our game, or the community at risk.

Together, as a Club and a community, we can get though these challenging times.

If anyone needs an hand, or is struggling, please reach out, I am sure that as a community we can do our best to help.

Regards, and stay safe.
