Course Update

Published on 1st July 2019 in Uncategorized

Members,

On Monday July 1, 2019 – Brock Gillard (the new Course Pro) & Michael McKay, in consultation with YGC Committee, commenced placement of ropes to direct ride-on golf carts (either hired or owned) away from the soft areas of the Course and to assist us all in maintaining the condition of the course.

Foot traffic and push / motorised buggies are permitted past the ropes (but please apply common sense as to where you are walking – and keep all buggies off the greens)

You will see that ropes have initially been  placed  on holes 2, 12 & 15  to direct carts away from those approach up-slopes that suffer significantly from golf carts being driven up the face of the softer ground.

Ropes have also been placed on the left side of the 8th hole – to extend the path along the hole. Ride-on golf carts on the 8th hole are not to leave the path or travel to the left of the ropes at any time.

There are no ropes on the 16th hole – however there is a path the runs the entire length of the hole. Under no circumstances are ride-on carts to leave the constructed path on the 16th hole.

Any ride-on cart seen on the green side of the ropes, or off the path on either  8 or 16 will result in an automatic 2 stroke penalty. Failure to correctly apply & record the penalty  will result in  disqualification.

This also serves as a reminder to us all to think about where we push our buggies and drive our carts – if the ground is obviously soft / damp/ cut up – then apply some common sense and walk around. This particularly applies to any of the hills or slopes around any of the greens, on the approach of any green and between the greens and green side hills / bunkers.

If we all take a little more care, and thought we can keep the course heading in the right direction, without staff having to spend time addressing issues that could be prevented.

For information, from July 1 to September 30 – for YGC Members  – all individual one-hour lessons with club Pro Brock have been discounted by 30% to $70. This includes package lessons (5 one hour lessons for $350 a saving of $150).

Keep an eye out for additional offers / flyers around the Club.

Regards and good golfing,

YGC Committee
