Today, Fred Gatti came as close as you possibly can to one of the rarest feats in golf. Shooting your age!

After a slow start on the front – with a 42, Fred tore up the back 9 – bogeying only the 17th – to card a 37 coming home.

This gave him a combined score of 79 off the stick! 

(I’m told it was just two months too early as he is only 78 and turns 79 in May).

 

Congratulations on a cracking round Fred. Well played. (p.s. I hope your marker bought the beer!)
