Apology and correction to the published minutes and attachments

All,

It has been brought to the attention of the Committee that there was an email omitted from the posted ‘correspondence in’  recently arising from the 19 January 2019 Committee Meeting.

I can assure all that this was an inadvertent oversight due to the number of emails received from that particular source.

That email, and an accompanying apology for the oversight, have now been added to the 19 January Committee Minutes posting.

At the 2018 AGM I promised both transparency and accountability. This however works both ways. The Committee cannot be accused of ‘selective presentation’, and then be criticised for embodying full disclosure.

It must also be pointed out that the item titled “Social Media Post” is just that – a screenshot of social media post – it is not in fact included in the ‘correspondence in’ from Steve Santolin as it was not sent by him; it was forwarded to the Committee by both an external source, and a member.

It is acknowledged that that post does not specifically name the Yarrambat Golf Club, however the timing of the post and the similarity of the language used can lead to only one conclusion – and on the balance of probabilities the intent of the post is quite clear.

I will not allow my Committee to be abused and insulted by those who choose to troll the Committee from behind the mask of anonymity that can be Social Media.

If the author of the emails wishes to explain to the full Committee why he feels they “need to grow a pair” and then post to Facebook a very short time later that the “Committee at the Club have got no f*cking balls, bunch of soft c*ck pussies”; we are more than willing to listen. But I will not stand idly by and allow such behaviour to go unchallenged, nor will I apologise for holding anyone to account for such an unacceptable slur on this Committee; nor will I be intimidated, nor bullied into a particular course of action.

If any member has a question, grievance, or an issue to raise, I actively encourage them to do so, but only if they can do so in a civil and respectful manner.

In the meantime the Committee will continue to do its best to manage the Club for the benefit of all our members.

Yours respectfully,

Stuart Thompson

President YGC
